New Hampshire's Last Civil War Veteran:
Andover

William A Light

Died 9 Mar 1933

William Light, 86, last Civil war veteran living in this town, was burned to death at his home early this morning. He had been confined to his bed for about a year and his wife was unable to move him as flames spread rapidly through the house. Mrs Light rushed to neighbors for help, but they were unable to enter the building when they arrived.

William was born in Nobleboro, Maine on 19 Jun 1841, and had been a resident of Maine up to 15 years prior to moving to Andover. His body was sent back to Nobleboro for burial in a private family cemetery.
