Marcus M Collis Camp, No 53
Portsmouth, NH

Organized on 17 Feb 1891 with 53 applicants [10th Ann. Encamp, Aug 1891] and instituted on 26 Feb 1891, with 56 charter members [Granite Monthly, Vol 43 Pg 381].
The original camp may have disbanded, as there was another mustering in for the "new" established camp in 1901 [Portsmouth Herald, 5/24/1901, pg 1]. 

Named for Marcus Morton Collis, who served with the 21st, 36th and 56th Massachusetts Infantry Regiments. He served as commander of the Storer Post from 1882 to 1884, and was elected commander of the NH Dept GAR in 1885. He died in Portsmouth, NH on 6 Oct 1911.
